'THE BORROWERS' BY MARY NORTON

‘Arrietty Clock is a Borrower, although actually, when this story starts, she's never been borrowing in her life. She lives with her father and mother under the floorboards in the kitchen of a rather large, old house. Her father, Pod, regularly goes off borrowing, for the things that the family needs. Have you ever wondered where all those little lost things go to in a house? All the bottle tops and pins and needles and string and matchboxes and reels of cotton and a hundred and one other things? Well, someone like Pod has probably been round collecting them.’
Who Is Your Favourite Character/s In The Book? Why?
I think my favourite character/s in the book would be, Arrietty because she is the bubbly and adventurous Borrower girl. Who is not allowed to go borrowing with her father, without her mother's permission. Also, I like her determination to chase her dreams.
What Was Your Favourite Part Of The Book? Why?
I think my favourite part of the book would have to be the ending because it was truly a perplexing, astonishing and astounding resolution. Although, I did enjoy the entire book. The language of the book is very British and there are probably to many side explanations that are quite lengthy. Evidently I missed, the notion that the Borrowers might have been fabricated by the boy who was narrating the stories.
What Would You Give This Book Out Of ?/5 Stars?
I would give this book a 3 & a-half/5 because it is what you would definitely expect from the wonderful Mary Norton and more. I was great because it is fictional, but it is set out in a way that it could possibly be non-fictional. It really gets you thinking logically, like maybe you've been losing some objects and just maybe, its been "burrowed". The reason that I didn't give it quite a higher rating is because, it was truly a really good book but I wasn't really feeling it. But just because I didn't enjoy it as much, doesn't to mean to say that you will not enjoy it. So if possible, you should read it. :-D

ANGEL CAKE BY CATHY CASSIDY

Angelcake_standard

Angel Cake is written by the infamous author Cathy Cassidy. She is a British author of young adult fiction. Anya is pretty much your average teenager, who has just moved from Poland to Liverpool, Britain. Let me ask you this, if you'd just transferred from a completely different country to another country, halfway across the world, would it be easy to settle in?
Fortunately, she befriends Frances McGee, Kurt and Cheesy the rat. They may not be the ideal friends, but what can you do. Anya meets bad boy Dan, who is no Angel but there is always a "sweeter" side to a person. Frances persuaded her, that he is no-where near boyfriend material and she shouldn't try to become friends with him.

Who Is Your Favourite Character In The Book And Why?
My favourite character in book is Anya because she has a quiet and serene presence in the novel. I like the fact that she has a strong relationship, with her family who are very supportive. Especially, when being in a life changing position, she doesn't ignore their support. Anya uses it to embrace the fact, life goes on and she can either just go with it, or not.

What Was Your Favourite Part Of The Book?
My favourite part of the book was the beginning, because it's nothing like most novels, which have quite complicated beginnings. They start of explaining one point, but it ends up developing into nearly five chapters. Which I don't mind at all, but this book was different and different can be good.

What Would You Give This Book Out Of ?/5?
I would give this book a 4/5 because it is definitely what you would expect from the brilliant Cathy Cassidy and more. I especially loved the plot because it really kept me, ecstatic to find out what was going to happen next. Seriously, I couldn't put the book down. For those of you who love romance, comedy, and secrets this book is the book for you.

GINGERSNAPS BY CATHY CASSIDY

Gingersnaps_standard Ginger was always an outsider, always on the borderline of friendships. Until she switched puppy fat and pigtails for make-up and hair strengtheners and she hasn't looked back.

Ginger and Shannon are best friends, but when they befriend the isolated Emily, everything become different. There is a saxophone-playing boy can’t help to become a crisis. Are Shannon and Ginger drifting further apart or can they remain BFF?

Who is your favourite character in this book? Why?
My favourite character in the book was Ginger because when people used to call her fat, she worked so hard to get rid of that. Now she is on top of the food chain or popularity scale.

What is your favourite part in this book?
My favourite part in the book would probably be the ending in which everything is resolved. I won’t be a spoiler but let’s just say everything takes care of its self. To find out how it ends you’ll have to read it for yourself.

What would you give this book out of ?/5 star?
I would give this book 5/5 star because it is an enticing and romantic novel for those who like the secretive romance type, this is definitely the book for you.

SCARLETT BY CATHY CASSIDY

Wild child Scarlett is always getting herself into trouble and she's only 12 years old. She's been kicked out of five schools in two years. Though her behaviour may be a result to the fact her parents are divorced. Scarlett has tomato ketchup-coloured dyed hair, a pierced tongue and a stubborn attitude. With her mum on the very last straw, she sends her to southern Ireland to live with her father and his new family, after being expelled from school. Scarlett meets a mysterious boy called Kian who overtime reveals there is more to him that meets the eye. She gradually begins to drop her bad girl image under his influence.

Who is your favourite character in the book?
My favourite character in the book would probably be Clare (Scarlett’s Step-mother) who has a nine year old daughter named Holly and who was pregnant with their new-born daughter named Hazel. The reason why Clare was my favourite character in the book is that she welcomed Scarlett into her home with love and open arms even though Scarlett acted like she couldn't care less about her dad and his new family, living in the middle of nowhere in southern Ireland. Even the time when she pierced Holly’s top lip by accident the kind-hearted Clare forgave Scarlett, what a great step-mother.

What was your favourite part in the book?
My favourite part in the book would probably be the near the end; when Scarlett baby step-sister is born five weeks early and Scarlett has complete transformed in the mature older sister and loves her two younger sisters (Holly and Hazel), no questions asked. She also helped her step-mum finish stitching the quilt for Hazel with all her old clothes, with help from her mother and Holly.

What rating would you give this book our of ?/5 stars?
I would rate this book 5/5 star because it is an intriguing and romantic novel for those who like the rebellious type, this is a book for you. I absolutely enjoyed this book because, when Cathy Cassidy first introduced Scarlett, I'm guessing most people would have thought, with a name like that she obviously going to act fiercely because her name is a related to the colour red. When we think of red we think of anger or blood. Gradually, Scarlett surprises us, as she begins to turn good as the book progresses.
